November paintings and an Etsy sale

Hello friends! How are you doing? We are at the end of November, at the end of a most strange and difficult year. I hope you are doing well, and staying safe.

November was a month to slow down on art making, and work on important community projects as well as family projects. It was exactly what I needed. I did have a few painting sessions during the month, and I also kept up with my daily drawing practice. I have four new paintings I have added to the shop, and will hopefully add some drawings in the future. For now, here are the new paintings.

It may surprise you to see only one portrait here, among florals and waterlilies. Florals have been a really wonderful diversion this year. And I hope you love them too.

First Impressions

9 x 12 inch acrylic on stretched canvas

This sweet little beauty is one of the smallest florals I have worked on this year. There is so much texture here, and mark making too, as I scribed into the paint with my trusty art tools. I love those beautiful pops of red orange so much, that I painted the sides to match.

 Once Upon a Time

11 x 14 inch acrylic on stretched canvas

Once the pandemic hit our area, I went back to painting waterlilies again. It provides such a comforting way to express myself, in these calm and cool colors, and free flowing brush strokes.

Lucy’s Flowers

12×16 inch acrylic on stretched canvas

The best part of working in florals this year, is that I can just let my imagination run wild, with shapes, color combinations and swirly brush strokes…ala van Gogh. I am also adding my scribble marks into the paint as well, scratching into the surface to reveal the layers below. I LOVED working on this one so much, and I also loved this size canvas.

Evening Skye

8 x 10 inch acrylic on Senso panel

A little word play here…showing my love of cool evening colors, and one of my favorite places in the world, the Isle of Skye in Ireland. I love this sweet beauty, as she gazes out towards the viewer…there’s a lot of emotion in those eyes, don’t you think?

You will find these four paintings now in my online art shop, ArtcyLucy on Etsy.

I am also having my last shop sale of the year, 15% off most pieces of art in the shop, except for the new paintings added the last two months. In all, there are 85 items for sale. I hope you will stop by and take a look.

 ***

On the easel right now,  are three 11 x 14 inch portraits, that I have slowly been working on all month long. There are some experimental florals that are waiting for another layer, and some larger floral paintings that I have worked on for the last couple months. I notice that with the pandemic, came my desire to work a little more slowly with my art work. There are more layers now than there used to be. Maybe it is the act of painting itself, that I needed this year.

Stay safe and healthy friends! And may creativity bring you calm and comfort too!
