Charles Bridge x 2

Last year, we visited Prague, in one of the coldest winters they ever had. The air was crisp and very chilly (18 degrees Fahrenheit), and I was wearing many layers of clothes, scarves, hooded jackets, boots… just so we could wander around this amazing city. The sides of the Vltava river had frozen, and there were even ice skaters out there, gliding on top of solid water amid boats stuck in the harbor. It was so beautiful!

Every day in the city, we would gaze over THIS scene…the river, reflections, and Charles Bridge. If I lived in Prague, I would never tire of this view.

When I painted this view of the Charles Bridge and Prague Castle, it took me back to those wintry days in that medieval city.

“Evening in Prague” – 11 x 14 inch acrylic on stretched canvas

When I finished the previous Prague painting, I wanted to paint another. This one became a present for my niece and her husband, for their anniversary. Prague is one of their favorite places in the world. After seeing this lovely city with my own eyes, I know why.

Have you been to Prague too?

The ancient splendor and beauty of Prague, a city beyond compare, left an impression on my imagination that will never fade.” ~ Richard Wagner
