wearing wild flowers in our hair

“Let us dance in the sun, wearing wild flowers in our hair…” ~ Susan Polis Schutz

This quote seems to match the paintings I’ve been doing lately…lots and lots of flowers in their hair.

KatelynPainting3

Katelyn – 5 x 7 inch acrylic painting on Ampersand gessobord (SOLD, thank you!)

If this composition looks familiar, it’s because last year I painted something a bit similar…a glamour girl with lots of flowers on her head. That painting sold quickly. I was approached by one of my customers, and asked if I could paint something similar, but in a smaller format. It was so fun to revisit this kind of painting…that I painted another.

FlowersInHerHair3

Flowers in her Hair – 8 x 10 inch acrylic painting on Ampersand gessobord (available in my online art shop, ArtcyLucy Studio on Etsy)

This one was painted a little larger, but with the same jewel toned flowers in her hair. A little less “glam” than the previous version, more of a nature girl.  I might do a few more in this series…I don’t think I am quite done with “flowers in her hair” portraits.

A third painting I worked on, also included LOTS of flowers…and also for the same customer who purchased Katelyn…

AngelicaPainting3

Angelica – 8 x 10 inch acrylic painting on Ampersand gessobord (SOLD, thank you!)

This piece was purely composed by my customer, who saw an image of this hat and flower combination and fell in love with it. While painting it…so did I!  She has a bit of Kees Van Dongen influence to her, with her dramatic black ensemble, and her glamorous eyes. This was also pure fun to work on! I am so appreciative of customers who entrust me with painting their inspiration!
