From week to week, I don’t usually have a well thought out plan of what I am going to paint. I am usually inspired by something I have seen, or an artist from the past or present, and that’s what motivates me to get into the art room and paint my portraits, landscapes or still life paintings. But sometimes I am asked to make custom paintings, or asked to make larger versions of my smaller portraits.
I am always happy that someone loves my art enough, to want it for their home. Really, is there a better compliment for an artist? These were each 5 x 7 inch portraits, made into 11 x 14 inch acrylic paintings on Ampersand gessobord.
While they are not complete replicas of the original piece, I did enjoy working on them for my client, especially in a larger format.
Esme II (the original painting can be found here)
Claudine II (the original painting can be found here)
Lost in a Daydream II (original painting can be found here)
I ship them off tomorrow to their new home. It’s always a little bittersweet to package up my portraits. But it is exciting to send off a piece of my creativity to someone’s home. I hope they love them, as much as I enjoyed painting them!
All three 5 x 7 inch originals are still available in my Etsy shop.
