Beeswax!

beeswaxilovethee

There is something so calming, about working with beeswax.  Maybe it’s the organic nature of it, or how you paint it on your collage as a liquid, and in front of your eyes, it cools to a very beautiful solid texture. Then when it is completely cooled down, you can buff it until there is a glossy sheen, and your collaged elements seem to glow beneath it!

There is no other adhesive used in this 4 x 4 chunky collage, only beeswax covering and adhering images, papers, buttons and lace. There are three words, “I Love Thee” delicately displayed below the image of the woman in the collage. The back is finished with collage and beeswax, and there is a small vintage button hiding in the niche.

The whole canvas is then adhered, with beeswax, to a vintage book cover.  This “I Love Thee” beeswax collage is now available on my Etsy shop.

As you can see…I didn’t stop with just one :-)

when you can turn it into ART!

littlehouses

These are my newest wearable art pieces…altered Scrabble tile pieces, made into pendants! This is probably THE smallest surface I have ever collaged on. But I was able to cut some of my gorgeous fiber papers, and music sheets, to make these little beauties! I added a silver pendant bail to each, and they are reading to hang on a chain, cord or ribbon of your choice.

They are now listed by pairs, here.

Check back often, because I have a feeling I will be making more of these little goodies!

The little girl in me has come out again…in the form of fancy paper dresses! There was something so fun about cutting out these forms free hand, taking me back to the days of paper dolls and dress up! And decades (?!?) later, I still enjoy a fancy dress up party!

I’ve made three of these little 5 x 7 collages, all with brass wire with buttons for hanging! Check them out here!

newcollages2Time for a little whimsy and fun!

Here, my love of “vintage” takes me away to a whole new direction…playing card collages that you can hang on the wall! The largest collage in this group, is 5 x 7, with a featured image from the well-loved classic, Winnie the Pooh. This was one of my latest antique finds…a worn and taped up book, but the story, as well as the images it contains are still precious! The smaller collages measure 3 x 5, and are also attached to a playing card. A few vintage buttons and some thin wire…and now they are ready to hang! This is a first of many Playing Card Collages, that I plan to offer in my little Etsy shop.

Here I go again…altering game pieces! This time, not only did I play with domino pieces, but also mahjong pieces that were sent to me by a friend. These are all collaged pendants, with either book pages, tissue papers, or marbled and painted papers. They are so much fun to wear, because they are unique…and people tend to notice them :-)

I love to make these and give them to my friends and family…If you would like to share these with someone special, or perhaps a gift for yourself, they are now available here.
