Who knows what goes through an artist’s mind as they capture images and papers and paints to create another world on canvas! For me, bits of things seem to come together…sometimes it is easy, requires little thought, and other times, I tend to over-think the whole process. What I most enjoy, is watching unrelated items come together to create a whole…a story that never existed now appears before your eyes. Maybe that is the writer in me…I love a good story, especially from days gone past.

In these latest creations, both 8 x 10 canvas board collages, I was able to do just that, create an imagined story. I have so many beautiful images…it is never difficult to start a project, when I have so many amazing faces to use in my art. But the fun begins, when I start to think about who these people were…not so different from us, I imagine…just living in different times. I use alot of sepia tones, almost vintage ink colors…to set the tone for what we are about to learn about our “characters”…and then comes the ephemera, vintage papers, children’s workbooks, music sheets, anything that might help with the story. My newest “stories” are entitled ”A New Home” and “Three Daughters”. Both can be purchased online at my Etsy shop.
