I love collecting tintypes from days gone past…they were a generation of people, living in a time that we can only imagine, as we peruse old books, census records, and family histories. We don’t know what they went through exactly, but they can’t be so different from us. They still loved, laughed, enjoyed each other’s company…through good times, and through tough times. There is something so deeply personal and satisfying about recreating their “imagined lives” through vintage collages. Now I know why I collected “old things”…bits of books, magazines, tintypes, cabinet cards…for so many years. Now, I can lovingly give them a “home”.
These three original pieces are now being offered on my Etsy shop. I am so pleased to be able to share them with you!

Don’t you just love the rich colors of the Renaissance? Bits of gold and deep red tones, set off with a little aged patina? I could wander the aisles and rooms of the Louvre for hours, just perusing and gazing at all the works of art, from Medieval to Gothic to Renaissance…I love it all! In this digital piece, I combined bits of the old, with a twist of the new…to make a unique homage to the Renaissance.
This digital creation is now being offered on my Etsy shop.

My sunflowers helped me get through the dog days of summer last year…so bright and cheerful, even though summer is NOT my favorite season of the year, and I felt as if I were wilting! These stayed tall and true, no matter what the summer and fall brought…high winds…no problem, they just swayed with the breezes (or in this part of the world…GUSTS!) as if it were a dance they were enjoying, a sunflower ballet. I loved taking photographs of these flowers, so strong yet delicate, and I loved playing around with color and texture in these digital collages.
You can now find prints available at my newly established ETSY store! I am so proud to be able to share these images that I love with you!

I love taking something modern and new, and re-creating it into something vintage. In this case, I used a CD, altered it with papers, paints, images and words, and attached lace to the back of it. What once was a modern way of burning music or data, is now a piece of art that tells a story of the past.

Thank you for joining me on Artcy Lucy! Let me introduce myself…my real name is Roberta, but my nickname is Lucy, thanks to my Dad
I love to create one of a kind art…using mostly vintage images and ephemera. One of my favorite places is an antique shop, full of little treasures of long ago. I enjoy reinventing vintage themes, usually about family, friends, and the simple life of days gone past. Thanks for taking the time to visit me. I hope you see something here that you like. And if you would like to drop me a line, please do so at ArtcyLucy@aol.com I would love to hear from you!
